Turn-Open models are controlled remotely by a knob on the tub, while Push-Open plugs feature a spring-loaded mechanism that opens and closes by direct pressure. Standard plugs are the simplest, inserted and removed manually; their key differences lie in ease of use, aesthetics, and mechanical design.

When installing a new jacuzzi plug, first remove the old siphon assembly, then ensure proper sealing by applying plumber's putty or silicone to the new plug's gaskets. Carefully tighten the connections for both the main drain plug and the overflow opening. After installation, perform a leak test by filling the jacuzzi with water and checking all connection points from the service panel for any signs of leakage.

Common malfunctions with jacuzzi plugs include water leakage and the plug failing to close or open. Leaks often result from old or displaced gaskets, which can be resolved by replacing them. If the plug doesn't operate, it might be due to a broken cable in turn-open systems or hair/limescale jamming the spring mechanism in push-open systems; cleaning the mechanism or repairing the cable is usually required.
