Overview of the Jacuzzi Construction Process
The idea of adding a jacuzzi to a home brings with it the dream of luxury and relaxation. However, the jacuzzi construction process is much more complex and involves technical details far beyond simply installing a bathtub. This process hinges on a fundamental decision made at the very beginning of the project: Will a completely custom, built-from-scratch jacuzzi be constructed, or will a factory-produced, ready-made jacuzzi be installed?
Professional jacuzzi installation involves critical details such as installation time, electrical infrastructure, static load warnings, and service scope. Installation of ready-made acrylic models typically takes 1 business day, while custom reinforced concrete projects can take 4-6 weeks. A minimum 3x2.5 mm² dedicated line and a 30mA Residual Current Device (RCD) are mandatory for electrical infrastructure. For weights that can reach 1 ton, including water and users, a floor survey must be conducted in buildings. Our service scope includes site survey, infrastructure project design, leak-proof installation, and technical service.
Installing a ready-made acrylic jacuzzi is the fastest and most common way to add hydrotherapy features to a bathroom or room. Custom-built reinforced concrete jacuzzi construction, on the other hand, is a more extensive construction process, typically preferred for luxury spa areas, hotels, or villa projects seeking unlimited architectural design freedom. Both methods have their unique application stages, costs, and technical requirements.
Custom-Built (On-Site) Jacuzzi Construction: Unlimited Design Possibilities
Jacuzzi construction can fundamentally be divided into two different philosophies: a permanent structure poured on-site, and the installation of a factory-produced product. A built-in jacuzzi or custom construction, much like a swimming pool, involves creating a structure from scratch by pouring reinforced concrete in the desired shape and size. This method offers unlimited design freedom. It can be built in any form, including infinity edges or integrated with the architecture. As this process involves permanent construction, it requires serious planning and waterproofing.
Ready-made acrylic jacuzzi installation, however, is the most common method for home applications. In this method, the jacuzzi itself—the acrylic shell, chassis, motor, jets, and pipes—comes as a complete 'product' manufactured in a factory. The construction process is not about building but rather connecting this ready-made product to a pre-planned infrastructure. Building a reinforced concrete jacuzzi from scratch follows the same steps as building a mini-pool and requires a high level of expertise. For clients who wish to go beyond standard molds, we construct custom-shaped, on-site poured concrete jacuzzis suitable for the space. In these systems, the number and position of hydromassage jets are fully personalized according to user ergonomics, and porcelain ceramic or marble options are offered for cladding.
Infrastructure Preparation and Floor Applications
Ready-made acrylic jacuzzi installation requires careful plumbing setup rather than extensive construction. Before starting the installation, the infrastructure of the area where the jacuzzi will be placed must be complete. This infrastructure consists of three main components: hot and cold water inlets to fill the jacuzzi, a drain line with sufficient slope to empty the water, and a grounded electrical line to power the motor.
The floor area where the jacuzzi will be installed must be completely clean, dry, and smooth. The most important step is to apply professional waterproofing to this floor area. This insulation is the only guarantee against water leaking to the ceiling of the floor below in case of a siphon malfunction or overflow. The jacuzzi body is usually mounted on a metal chassis with adjustable feet. The body is carefully placed in its planned location. A level is used at this stage. It is essential that all four corners of the jacuzzi are perfectly level. If the jacuzzi is not level, the weight on the body will be unevenly distributed, which can lead to stress and cracks in the acrylic body over time.
Floor Load Capacity, Service Access, and Ventilation
In jacuzzi projects, whether custom-built or ready-made, there are technical details that should not be overlooked. Floor load capacity is the most critical safety step, especially if installation is planned for upper floors, terraces, or older buildings. A medium-sized two-person jacuzzi, when filled with water and people, can exceed a total weight of 750 kilograms or 1 ton. This concentrated static load might exceed the carrying capacity of the building's floor slab. Before installation, static approval from a structural engineer must be obtained to ensure the floor can safely bear this load.
A jacuzzi is a mechanical device containing a motor, pump, and plumbing network, and it may malfunction or require maintenance over time. Therefore, it is essential to leave a service hatch or access panel in the area where the jacuzzi motor is located, allowing a person's hand to comfortably reach and work. Completely embedding the jacuzzi or sealing it in a way that cannot be easily opened can turn even the simplest future repair into a nightmare.
Jacuzzis, especially when installed indoors, produce a high amount of humidity and steam. An adequate ventilation system, such as a window or mechanical fan, must be in place to remove this moisture from the room. Insufficient ventilation can lead to mold formation on the room's walls and ceiling.
**Technical Data: Static Load and Measurement Table**
